A Sunday issue for one canton

Issue 001 is an introduction to AlpeanGlow: a weekly guide to living and spending time in the Swiss Alps, with a deliberately narrow editorial map. Its purpose is practical: identify what has changed, explain what may affect a journey or stay, and show the evidence behind each recommendation.

The general Sunday issue

After this introductory edition, the public issue is scheduled for Sunday at 09:00 Europe/Zurich. Every reader receives the same reported view of the week: local news, transport and access changes, events, housing and development, followed by a considered shortlist of places to stay. It is an edited issue, not a directory and not a search tailored to one person.

Grisons, by design

AlpeanGlow covers Grisons rather than treating the Alps as one destination. This first issue follows Arosa, Flims, Laax, St. Moritz, Pontresina, Sils Maria, Silvaplana, Celerina/Schlarigna, Zuoz and Scuol. Engadin is the region connecting seven of those places, not a substitute for naming the village itself.

That boundary keeps the reporting specific. A municipal housing project is different from a tourism announcement. A hotel in Surlej is not in Silvaplana village, and a chalet at Bos-cha near Guarda is not in central Scuol. Place is part of the review.

Four ways to assess a stay

New & Unmissable

Current openings, projects and changes that alter how a place works, paired with accommodation newly selected for the issue. “New” must never be used to make an older hotel sound recently opened.

Luxury Lodging

Hotels and residences assessed through verifiable details: architecture, spa provision, transport, mountain access, room configuration and the trade-offs created by their setting. Price and promotional language are not evidence on their own.

Workation Gems

Longer-stay options with a documented basis for working, whether that is a separate living area, kitchen, stated connectivity or shared workspace. If desk size, connection speed or call privacy is not published, it remains a question for the operator.

Cabins in Nature

Smaller or more isolated stays where landscape, access, water, lift operation and the exact accommodation type shape the experience. A mountain hotel or village inn is not relabelled as a cabin for atmosphere.

Each category is published as an article. It combines current reporting about the place with a comparative review of every attached shortlist entry. The review states who a stay may suit, what distinguishes it and what the source still does not prove. None of the properties in this issue is presented as independently inspected.
