Arosa
A high valley with connected skiing, forest walks and an unusually broad year-round programme.
Arosa sits at the end of the Schanfigg railway at about 1,775 metres. Its linked Arosa Lenzerheide ski area publishes 225 kilometres of pistes and 43 lifts, while the car-light upper valley makes short stays workable without a car.
Beyond skiing, the useful anchors are the Arosa Bear Sanctuary, the Squirrel Trail through the forest and the Untersee lido in summer. Wellness ranges from public hotel day-spa offers to the Mario Botta-designed Tschuggen Bergoase; access conditions should be checked before visiting.
