Six Grisons stays to test for a workation

A mountain view is not proof of a workable office. For each stay, the useful evidence is a desk or shared workspace, a stated connection, privacy for calls and enough domestic space for more than a weekend. Where an operator does not publish those facts, they remain questions for the booking request.

Arosa: Valsana Hotel & Apartments

Valsana Hotel & Apartments publishes rooms and larger suites; its one-bedroom suite has a separate living area and fully equipped kitchen, and secure Wi-Fi is included. Our read: the apartment format is a plausible longer-stay base, but the source does not specify a desk, connection speed or private call room. Confirm all three for the exact category.

Travel on 4–6 September also needs planning. Arosa ClassicCar brings waits of an hour or more between Langwies and Arosa, four daily closure windows, and a bicycle prohibition on the cantonal road from 07:00 to 18:00. Read the cantonal police notice before travelling.

Flims: Flem Mountain Lodge

Flem Mountain Lodge lists 23 rooms and one holiday apartment, with a café and restaurant on site. Our read: the apartment is the category worth investigating for a longer stay, but the published page does not confirm a desk, measurable Wi-Fi or private call space. Ask the operator for written details rather than inferring them from the lodge format.

For a stay extending to 19 September, the Flimserstein alp descent will bring around 200 cattle down from Bargis at 14:00 and close the Scala Mola path from 10:30 to 12:30. The breakfast is already sold out.

Laax: Peaks Place and rocksresort

Peaks Place apartment covers unit plans from 36 to 92 square metres with kitchen, dining and living areas. Our read: the self-contained plan is useful for a team or family, but the cited page publishes neither a desk specification nor connection speed. Confirm the selected unit’s work surface, Wi-Fi and acoustic privacy.

rocksresort holiday apartment has an explicit workation page. It names Piazza cafedeli, Snake Bar and Camino Bar as shared places to work, and presents the apartments as the private alternative for calls or focused work. This is the section’s clearest workation positioning, although it still provides neither a desk specification nor a measured speed.

During the Bündner Hochjagd, from 3–13 and 21–30 September, the Val gl’ Uors part of the Runca Trail and the B7–C3 part of the Nagens Trail close to bikes from 16:45; detours are signposted. Check the LAAX notice and live trail status on the day.

Silvaplana: Nira Alpina

Nira Alpina confirms complimentary Wi-Fi in every room and public area and a covered-bridge connection to the Corvatsch cable-car entrance. Its meetings page advertises high-speed Wi-Fi in a room for up to 65 people. Our read: the mountain access is unusually efficient, but neither page promises an in-room desk or publishes a measured connection speed; meeting-room availability and privacy require an enquiry.

From 4–6 September, SGRAIL78 is based at Sportzentrum Mulets. Sunday’s main format combines a 1.5-kilometre lake swim, 64-kilometre gravel ride and 12.5-kilometre trail run. Expect a busier lakeside and village, but do not infer road closures from the published programme.

Zuoz: La Senda

La Senda explicitly offers its ground-floor panoramic Livingroom for workation and labels its internet “highspeed”. It also provides self check-in and round-the-clock self-service refreshments. Our read: this is useful shared-space evidence, not proof of an in-room desk, quantified speed or a private call booth.

Rhätische Bahn is rebuilding Zuoz station through 2027. Retaining-wall work continues through November and the village-side platform roof is scheduled from July to November 2026; temporary platforms or altered access routes may be required. This is not a current full line closure. Check the RhB project page and live timetable before travel.

What to ask before booking

These are candidates, not blanket endorsements. Valsana Hotel & Apartments and the Laax apartments provide the strongest domestic formats; rocksresort holiday apartment and La Senda publish the clearest workation language; Flem Mountain Lodge and Peaks Place apartment leave the most basic work questions open. Obtain written confirmation for the exact unit and dates: desk dimensions, chair, measured upload and download speed, private-call options, cancellation terms and any minimum stay.
