Autumn, by appointment

Some hotel news is about continuity. On 3 September, htr reported that Karin and Sven Bodenmann would step back from their long-standing hosting roles at BelArosa at the end of October. The report described Karin continuing in management during winter 2026/27 and Sven concentrating on the group’s leadership. Recruitment was under way when the report appeared; it is not evidence of who will greet a guest on a particular arrival date.

BelArosa Suiten & Wellness

The established hotel is newly selected here because of that transition, not because it has just opened. Its own room descriptions distinguish a 32 sq m double room with balcony from a 45 sq m junior suite. Those are different propositions for a longer visit: extra floor area may be worthwhile when luggage, reading and a wet afternoon must share the room. Neither measurement establishes a separate office or a self-catering arrangement.

The operator lists 11 October as the end of the summer season and 3 December as the winter reopening. For an autumn enquiry, the question is therefore the precise room category and length of stay before the break. For winter, it is how the handover will work in practice. This is a hotel stay with services, rather than the independent mountain-house format reviewed later in the issue.

No room inventory or reproducible rate was checked for specific dates.

Badrutt’s Palace, St. Moritz

htr reported on 16 September that Badrutt’s Palace placed 36th in the 2026 World’s 50 Best Hotels list, alongside recognition for hospitality. That is a reason to look again at the address, not a review of an individual room or a promise of September availability.

The decisive detail is the hotel’s operating calendar: its listed summer season ended on 7 September; winter runs from 3 December 2026 to 30 March 2027. Treat this selection as a winter preview. Before comparing quotations, ask for the exact room category, outlook and balcony provision. A hotel’s reputation cannot resolve those differences, and a stay between operating seasons is not an option suggested here.

Hotel Adula, Flims Waldhaus

Adula offers a more immediate reason to plan around the hotel itself. The operator describes a 1,200 sq m spa with a 20-metre indoor pool and an outdoor saltwater pool. The age rules matter for families: the fitness, saltwater and sauna areas are for guests aged 16 and over; younger children use the indoor pool with an accompanying adult. This is useful detail when deciding how much of a day everyone can spend together.

For a later visit, La Muña’s programme announces a 26 September event combining its Japanese-Peruvian cooking with producer presentations and tastings. It is a preview beyond this edition’s week, and a restaurant programme at an established hotel, not a new opening. Ask the hotel about the event reservation separately from the room. The published programme does not establish a package price or room availability.

The distinction between the two choices is temporal as much as stylistic: a December hotel enquiry in St. Moritz, or an autumn stay in Flims organised around a pool and a particular evening.

Peaks Place, Laax

A longer stay begins with ordinary domestic arrangements. Peaks Place describes apartments with a kitchen, dining and living space, bedroom, bathroom and balcony. That layout earns it a place on a workation shortlist: it allows meals and downtime to happen at home. It does not establish an ergonomic desk, acoustic privacy or a connection that will support a particular working day.

We return to this previously covered address because the after-work calculation changes on 21 September. Laax’s hunting-season notice closes the Val gl’Uors section of the Runca Trail and the B7–C3 section of the Nagens Trail from 16:45 during 21–30 September, with signposted diversions. These are specified trail sections, not a closure of the whole mountain. A late ride needs to fit that timetable; apartment flexibility cannot remove a route restriction.

Before booking for work, request the proposed unit’s table or desk arrangement, a recent connection test and an explanation of where a second person could take a call. The published apartment description supports a stay to test, not a proven office.

A benchmark in Pontresina

Maistra 160 publishes more explicit work facilities: three quiet library workstations, high-speed Wi-Fi as an operator claim, and a closable pine-panelled Stüvetta in its 36 rooms. It is a comparison point rather than another new listing in this issue. Someone choosing between a serviced room and a self-contained apartment should ask which part of the day needs separation: cooking, calls or simply the laptop after dinner. The answers may favour different formats.

Heimeli Maiensäss, Sapün

The important distinction at Heimeli is between a room in the mountain inn and the separate Maiensäss. The latter accommodates two adults, has a three-night minimum and does not accept dogs. Its three terraces and hotel service make it a particular proposition for a couple who want their own small retreat without treating it as an entirely unsupported hut.

Sapün lies above Langwies in the municipality of Arosa. The access instructions describe a summer walk of about an hour and a half from the Langwies parking area, or a drive requiring a road permit arranged before ascending; parking at the inn is limited. Winter access changes with the prepared snow route and should be arranged directly. The operator lists its summer season through 1 November and warns that internet access is very slow and unreliable. That warning is decisive if the escape still contains a working day.

Meisser Chalet, Bos-cha

Meisser’s detached chalet is a different scale: the operator gives 200 sq m for two to four people, with a large garden in Bos-cha. Do not confuse it with the separate apartments on the same accommodation page. Its appeal on paper is the combination of a whole house, outdoor space and a small party, rather than an assumption that every advertised apartment facility applies to it.

This returning selection also warrants a route check. A RhB notice published by Scuol schedules night works between Guarda and Scuol-Tarasp for the nights of 21/22 to 23/24 September, subject to working conditions. That does not establish noise at the chalet or a daytime service cancellation. It is a reason to check the journey for a specific arrival, not to describe Bos-cha as disrupted.

Choose between these stays on party size and the degree of independence wanted. Confirm the exact house, access arrangements and dates before discussing a rate.

• 19 September, elapsed: Flims’s cattle descent was scheduled for this date. The programme is not evidence that every planned activity took place.
• 21–24 September: Laax’s specified evening trail restrictions are in force within their 21–30 September period. RhB night works between Guarda and Scuol-Tarasp are scheduled through the night of 23/24 September.
• 23–24 September, Sils: rock clearance affects Föglias–Baselgia from 08:15–12:00 and 13:15–17:00. Through traffic is admitted for 15 minutes on the hour between work intervals. Cars and light vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes can use the village route; buses continue through the village with possible waits. Via Engiadina is continuously closed from 23 September to 1 October, with a signed diversion via Seglias.
• 23 September, Celerina: Edem Gospel Voices is listed at the Bel Taimpel Reformed Church, 19:00–20:30.
• 24 September, Flims: the second-home owners’ event is fully booked and registration is closed. It should not be treated as an open invitation to its programme.
• Continuing, Silvaplana: the culinary hiking weeks run within a 13 September–18 October programme. Check the remaining departure dates and places directly.

Beyond this edition: previews

Sils lists a further road-work interval on 25 September, 08:15–12:00. In Flims, 26 September is the advertised date for La Muña’s Première & Lab. These are later planning notes, not events within 18–24 September.

This delayed edition is dated 18 September 2026 and was researched on 22 September. News discovery covered 12–18 September, with a broader development window of 20 August–18 September. Current operator pages and notices were then checked for practical planning; they should not be read as snapshots captured on Friday.

The destination scan covered Arosa, Flims, Laax, St. Moritz, Pontresina, Sils Maria, Silvaplana, Celerina/Schlarigna, Zuoz and Scuol.
