Diavolezza before the ski season
AlpeanGlow
The cable car and mountain hotel remain an option while the first skiing waits for colder conditions.
Diavolezza’s notice of 13 October moves the start of skiing provisionally to 24 October because of high temperatures. The cable car and Berghaus remain open through 15 November. A bed on the mountain and a day on skis are therefore separate bookings in the imagination as well as in the diary.
We return to the Berghaus, first included in Issue 001, for that changed operating context and a more exact room choice. The Classic double has its own shower and WC. At 2,978 metres, it offers the landscape relationship of a mountain refuge with more privacy than the house’s dormitory accommodation. It is a hotel room reached by cable car, not a self-contained cabin.
The published summer tariff is CHF 172 per adult per night, including tourist tax, breakfast, a four-course dinner, cable-car travel and one litre of tea or still water. This summer tariff runs through 15 November. That makes comparison with a valley room-only rate misleading: meals and access are part of the stay.
The tradeoff is the timetable. From 17 October the operator lists the final ascent and descent at 16:20. Plan arrival around it rather than treating an evening check-in as flexible. The Berghaus also explains that water is brought up by cable car and tap water is not drinking water.
Confirm room availability and the day’s lift operation directly. The provisional ski date is not a promise of ski access during this edition’s 16–22 October window.
