A hotel that keeps its doors open

Walther’s autumn calendar gives its historic rooms a practical reason to stay in use.
Hotel Walther explicitly says it will remain open from 18 October to 10 December. For a Pontresina visit between the conventional seasons, that is more useful information than another description of autumn colours.
The house dates to 1907. Its historic dining room and on-site spa give the stay an indoor life as well as a mountain setting. That is the distinction from choosing a renovated bedroom at Engadinerhof: Walther suits a reader who wants the hotel itself to occupy a substantial part of the day.
The published autumn programme supplies further reasons to choose particular dates, including an Ayurvedic retreat on 19–22 October. Treat that as an organised activity offer, with its own inclusions and participation terms, rather than a health claim or an amenity automatically included with a room.
Walther also appears in Mumaints per vus, the regional hotel initiative running 18 October–6 December. The qualification is important: this offer is for local residents and people employed by Upper Engadin businesses. It is not a general visitor rate.
Ask Walther for the room category and the service schedule covering the whole proposed stay. An open hotel is a good starting point; the restaurant, spa and programme one intends to use are the details that turn it into a reason to book.
