The details that make a week
A useful September stay begins with what is happening around it, and with the practical detail a photograph cannot show.

The second edition begins with a simple question: what would make a particular week in Grisons worth staying for?
In Sils, the zeit:fluss programme gives 13–19 September a cultural thread. Above Flims, the Flimserstein cattle descent brings the working mountain into the village calendar. These are reasons to choose dates, rather than decorations added to a hotel recommendation.
They also sharpen the accommodation choices. A hotel beside a celebration serves a different purpose from a house further up a valley. A spa with a staircase is not the same proposition as a linked bath complex. A studio with an internet router is not yet a tested office. And at Hotel Fex, a restaurant closure makes dinner a more important question than the view.
We have kept this shortlist small enough to explain those differences. Six stays enter the selection; two working-stay candidates return for a closer comparison. These are assessments of published evidence, not reports of visits or promises of availability.
